Dear French Story Listeners,
Have you ever noticed how certain phrases just stay with you?
Like when someone says something in just the right way, and weeks later, you find yourself remembering it perfectly?
🎥 This Week’s Story: Why cats and dogs are enemies
That’s the gentle magic we’re exploring this week with a charming tale: “Pourquoi le chat et le chien sont ennemis” (Why cats and dogs are enemies).
It’s a story about friendship, betrayal, and a lucky gold ring that changes everything.

Here’s your gentle assignment
Create a commonplace book for French.
When an expression catches your heart or imagination, write it down.

Then write just one sentence using it – about your life, your thoughts, your world.
As you listen, you might notice beautiful phrases like “porter chance” (to bring luck) or “contourner” (to go around). Perhaps “Ã partir de ce moment” (from that moment on) will resonate with a memory of your own.
This is how children naturally acquire language. They hear words in stories, in context, with meaning already attached.
No flash cards needed.
Your gentle reminder this week
Context is the soil where vocabulary takes root.
When you write your own sentence with a new phrase, you’re planting it in your own experience.
That’s when it truly becomes yours.
You’re doing this beautifully. Trust the process.
