The story so far
If you’re new to the circle, or just need a refresher, here’s where we are.
In chapter 1, set in Montmartre in 1980, Bruno narrowly escapes being banned from magic by the magic council. He must choose between love and magic, and he chooses magic. This is hard for him because of Mia, his kind, funny classmate from Brazil, who loves rugby and the Beatles. His great-great-aunt Astrid or Tante Dubois, a secret enchantress, invites him to spend the summer with her in Brittany to train.
In chapter 2, the school year winds down. Bruno keeps his distance from Mia, passes his exams, and learns that he’ll spend the summer helping his aunt with un boulot. On the last day of school, Mia catches up with him. They share a funny moment singing Beatles lyrics before a bittersweet goodbye.
In chapter 3, Bruno arrives in Brittany. Astrid picks him up in her wonderful Deux-Chevaux and drives him to her village, Iffendic. Inside the house, a mysterious voice calls out his name, and Bruno meets Jeanne, a talking raven with a very strong personality.
A little mystery for tomorrow…
Jeanne speaks to Bruno using vous, as if he were a respected stranger.
But why would a bird address a teenager so formally? Is it good manners, pride, or something deeper about who Jeanne really is?
Join us tomorrow and see what you think!
💛 A special invitation from a friend I adore
I’d like to introduce you to someone dear to me: Céline Guerreiro of LanguageMate.
I know Céline personally, and she is simply full of energy. Her warmth and enthusiasm are contagious, and I promise you’ll feel it the moment she appears on your screen.
You live in France but you still don’t feel like yourself when you speak French?
If that sounds familiar, this live session is for you.
Céline will show you how a French language partner can help you finally speak with confidence and sound like you, in French.
✨ It’s free.
✨ It’s live on Zoom.
✨ There is no replay, so it’s a one-time chance to be there with her.
